XRP Ledger’s Batch V1.1 is one vote away – Can 8 transactions change XRPL?

One block, eight different transactions – A pass or a miss?

This year, high-performance Layer-1 networks have implemented various upgrades with the primary objective of enhancing “scalability.” XRP Ledger is clearly not an exception, with its proposed “Batch V1.1” solution. The upgrade allows up to eight different transactions in a block in an attempt to increase throughput while allowing the ledger to scale further.

But will this upgrade actually move the needle for XRP Ledger?

Based on the current validator vote, it seems the market is betting on a yes. Batch V1.1 has already gotten 27 out of 35 validator votes, and only needs one more vote to meet the 80% threshold needed to activate the upgrade.

That said, the upgrade has found some skeptics.

Batch V1.1 is designed for “dependent” transactions, meaning one transaction relies on the success of another transaction.

If one fails, the entire batch fails. This all-or-nothing setup could cause issues with execution and security, especially after the earlier Batch V1.0 bug.

However, a majority of validator support means that most people using the XRPL are confident that there would be few security concerns.

And while such a conviction alone can be a good sign for XRPL’s future growth, the question of the timing is significant. XRP Ledger posted a strong Q3, putting its on-chain fundamentals in focus as Q4 approaches.

But with Batch V1.1 now just one vote away, could this upgrade give XRPL’s growing on-chain activity another boost in the final quarter?

XRP Ledger heads into Q4 with a key on-chain gap

There is an apparent divergence in Ripple’s [XRP] Q3 cycle.

From a technical perspective, XRP rose over 35%, its first bullish quarter since Q3 2025, but on-chain activity has not kept up with the recovery.

For example, the XRP Ledger recorded $416 million in DEX volume so far in Q3, still below the previous quarter’s $469 million. The same gap is evident for other crucial metrics.

As the chart below demonstrates, XRP Ledger’s transaction count stands at around 162 million, far below the 222 million in the previous quarter, despite XRP closing Q2 with a 22% drop.

In other words, the price of XRP rose substantially in Q3, but the underlying network activity has yet to follow the same trend.

In this respect, the upgrade of Batch V1.1 could not have come at a better time.

XRP has recorded strong price gains, but on-chain activity is still lagging.

By making dependent transactions easier to process in batches, the upgrade could increase transaction efficiency, thus supporting higher network activity. Therefore, its activation is a “timely” catalyst for the XRP Ledger heading into Q4.

Final Summary

  • One vote away, the upgrade could make XRP Ledger transactions faster and more efficient.
  • XRP rose over 35%, but network activity stayed weaker, making the upgrade important for Q4.
