AXA has entered into a partnership with US technology company Publicis Sapient to support the next phase of its AI transformation.

The French insurer said the arrangement centres on the continued buildout of its Global AI Hub, which is designed to scale AI agents across the group’s operations.

Publicis Sapient supplies enterprise AI platforms and services.

AXA Group operations CEO, group chief technology & AI officer Matthieu Caillat said: “As we continue to scale AI across the Group, our priority is to combine safe and efficient AI, strong governance and practical business applications that create lasting value.”

AXA said the hub provides shared, global and standardised foundations for AI agents, with the goal of reducing time-to-market and costs, freeing AXA entities to focus on business value rather than building common AI infrastructure independently of one another.

“The collaboration combines AXA’s unique insurance, AI and responsible AI expertise with the specialist AI talent and engineering solutions of Publicis Sapient, a technology company that provides enterprise AI platforms and services,” AXA said in its statement.

The insurer said the first version of the Group-wide, vendor-agnostic hub was rolled out in July and is currently in use across five AXA entities.

It is intended to serve as a “secure” base for implementing, governing and operating AI capabilities, while supporting technology independence and building in compliance, FinOps, governance, human oversight, SafetyOps and security at every stage of the AI life cycle.

“It also enhances the ability to allocate and orchestrate specific capabilities and LLMs [large language models] across use cases in a strategic and cost-effective manner,” it added.

AXA units in Germany, France, Switzerland, the UK and AXA XL are currently developing use cases spanning motor claims automation, customer email processing and enterprise knowledge management.

Publicis Sapient EMEA & APAC financial services head David Murphy added: “We are excited to partner with AXA to establish the enterprise AI capabilities, engineering approaches and the necessary governance to accelerate AI adoption securely and consistently across the Group in support of AXA’s long-term AI ambitions.”

The partnership follows AXA XL’s agreement last month to acquire the remaining shares in S-RM, taking full ownership of the UK-based corporate intelligence and cybersecurity consultancy.

S-RM, founded in 2005, serves clients across more than 140 countries and operates nine international offices spanning six continents.

“AXA partners with Publicis Sapient to scale AI agent deployment” was originally created and published by Life Insurance International, a GlobalData owned brand.
