Curve DAO [CRV] recorded a sharp decline of 17.08% in the last 24 hours at press time, continuing to extend its recent decline as selling pressure intensified. Meanwhile, Spot trading volume surged 182% to $94.49 million, highlighting increased market participation during the sell-off.Â
The rapid volume increase along with the declining prices together pointed to aggressive selling as opposed to renewed buying interest. Additionally, the derivatives analytics also revealed another concerning development as market participants reduced their exposure.
Notably, the decline also coincided with a broader crypto market crash, as the Fear and Greed Index fell to 38, reflecting growing investor fear.

Derivatives surge, but traders abandon CRV positions
The trading volume on CRV derivatives rose 126.53% to $221.82 million as of writing, reflecting increased volatility in the Futures markets.Â
Despite increased trading, Open Interest (OI), however, declined 19.23% to $110.77 million, suggesting a considerable decrease in active positions. These contrasting figures implied investors closed their positions instead of committing fresh capital to the market.
Generally, declining OI during a sudden price decline usually points toward position unwinding and potential liquidations. Such developments often tend to go hand-in-hand with periods of market uncertainty as leveraged traders exit the market.Â

Exchange reserves shrink despite CRV’s steep decline
At the time of writing, the token’s Exchange Reserves fell 15.58% to $120.9 million in 24 hours, highlighting a significant reduction in exchange-held token value.
However, it is also worth noting that the reserve decline also reflected CRV’s falling price, which limits conclusions about actual token withdrawals. On the other hand, the Spot Netflows, meanwhile, remained predominantly negative, with October 30 recording roughly $218,990 in net outflows.
Typically, continued negative netflows imply reduced immediate selling availability as traders transfer tokens away from exchanges.
Despite these withdrawals, however, CRV’s price continued declining, suggesting that existing selling pressure had overwhelmed potential accumulation. This divergence raised questions on whether the reduced exchange supply could eventually be of help in stabilizing CRV price.Â

Can CRV defend its next critical support?
CRV’s technical structure on the daily chart confirmed a breakdown below $0.30, a region that previously supported several price recoveries. The bears pushed prices toward $0.2739 following the breakdown, bringing the next major support at $0.2372 into the spotlight.
Furthermore, the RSI indicator dropped to 30.24 as of writing, nearing the oversold territory and reflecting intense bearish pressure. Besides, the indicator’s position below its moving average further highlighted the fading buying strength.
The MACD indicator validated the bearish outlook, with its line falling to below the signal line, and the negative histogram expanding to -0.0030.
Ultimately, CRV remained vulnerable after losing the $0.30 support zone, while the declining Open Interest and bearish indicators strengthened the downside risks.Â
Even though the exchange outflows offered potential relief, the bears still retained control, and failure to recover the $0.30 support could expose CRV to further losses toward $0.2372.

Final Summary
- CRV’s 17% crash coincided with falling Open Interest and persistent market fear.
- CRV could extend losses toward $0.2372 unless buyers reclaim the $0.30 level.
