Kraken crypto IPO pushed to Q2 2027 at earliest—Report

Kraken’s parent company, Payward, has reportedly delayed its planned stock market listing until at least the second quarter of 2027.

The reported change means investors may have to wait for more months before they can buy the publicly traded shares of the company.

Kraken reportedly extends its IPO wait

CoinDesk reported that Payward does not plan to go public before the second quarter of 2027, and the publication cited two people familiar with the company’s plans.

Kraken declined to comment, however, so it’s all just speculations, with nothing to confirm this new timescale.

Payward initiated this in November 2025 by confidentially submitting a draft registration statement to the US Securities and Exchange Commission [SEC].

That filing allowed for regulators to privately review the company’s plans, but it didn’t mean the IPO would necessarily take place or set any firm dates for it.

Kraken has said that any offering would depend on the SEC’s review, market and other conditions. But there are reports that Payward had delayed the listing due to the condition of the market, which has affected investor appetite.

Payward keeps expanding without a public listing

The delay comes as Payward broadens its business beyond cryptocurrency trading.

In addition to derivatives, the company now covers tokenized equities, payments, and has made some acquisitions, including the derivatives platform, Bitnomial, and many more.

Its latest filings showed an adjusted revenue of $508 million for Q2, which was up 17% from the previous year.

Funded accounts increased 42% to 6.6 million, but transaction volume fell 13% to $310 billion as crypto spot trading weakened across the industry. Adjusted earnings stood at $23 million.

Final Summary

  • Payward reportedly does not plan to list before the second quarter of 2027.
  • Kraken is yet to comment, and its filing remains subject to market conditions.
